Situation: We noticed that our equipment dealers were not utilizing much in the way of social media or web marketing, so after conducting a needs analysis, I developed a series of courses called "Getting in Front of Customers" where I addressed the basics of using tools like a Google Business Profile to help direct customers to their dealerships. This is the first course in the series, focused on educating dealers on leveraging this easy-to-use, free business tool.
Audience: The company's national equipment dealer network in both the US and Canada.
Learning Objective: After taking this training, dealers will be able to set up and use their own Google Business Profile and understand the need for an online presence to help their business (and in turn, our business) succeed.
Instructional Process: I worked closely with an internal stakeholder to create this course based on a slide deck he presented during a sales conference with our distributor network. The presentation was received positively at the sales conference, so we decided that creating an e-learning course would help us scale its availability to all 4,000 of our dealers, not just the ones who attended the sales conference session. A few dealer contacts on our Dealer Council also acted as subject matter experts, previewing the courses and giving feedback about the best ways to teach dealers about this process and its importance.

The prompt: This is the second course in the series started above, which added information and examples for how to utilize our company's social media content and website hosting partners to increase our dealers' ability to reach today's customers.
Audience: The company's national equipment dealer network in both the US and Canada.
Result: Our equipment dealer network was required to take these courses as part of the annual training. The series of courses resulted in a 35% increase in dealers with some level of online presence.
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, AI Voice Narration using ElevenLabs, SnagIt, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Note: This course contains proprietary information, so a few videos are included as examples.
The following video shows an example of the Course Objectives page, which uses the metaphor of a house to explain the importance of different aspects of an online presence and how they build upon one another to create a full picture of the dealership for their customers.
I created the graphics using Adobe Illustrator and animated them in Articulate Storyline 360.
This second video shows the beginning of the Social Media section of the course, again pulling in the metaphor of the house to explain how social media can add another layer of customer awareness to their dealership.
Situation: We noticed that a large percentage of our dealers were not registering products properly before filing a claim and filing warranties with errors consistently. After a needs assessment was completed, we decided that a microlearning course to refresh our dealers on our warranty procedures was called for. I created this microlearning course and we included it as part of our required annual training for dealers. We wanted the course to be short, so that it had the highest chance of being completed by our busy dealer network.
Audience: The company's national equipment dealer network in both the US and Canada.
Learning Objective: After taking this training, dealers will be able to file warranty claims and product registrations with fewer errors or confusion.
Instructional Process: I worked closely with the Customer Care warranty team to create this course based on a job aid that had been created previously. I used the job aid as a starting point and expanded on the content to give more explanation to each tip, while keeping the training short and to the point.
Result: Over the 6 months following the course release date, we saw a 30% decrease in warranty filing errors and product registrations increased by 40%.
